Sustainable Productivity Award for Okooko at the Sustainable Business Awards

Announced at the Environment Bay of Plenty Sustainable Business of the Year Awards dinner in Rotorua, Okooko received the award for growth in sustainable productivity. This year Comvita won the Supreme Sustainable Business of the Year, you can see the full list of finalists and awards won here. Okooko know sustainabiilty is achievable in business, the sustainable ethos reaches throughout the entire company from design through production through to how products are packaged.
- Okooko uses Theory of Constraints, maximising productivity.
- All materials are sourced from sustainable forestry harvesting operations: heli harvesting minimises damage to forests, dead standing and wind fall trees are utilised, active pest management practices are in place, seedling propogation programmes implemented
- Natural materials (Bamboo, Cotton, 100% natural Latex, Wool) and natural manufacturing processes are used wherever possible
- Okooko has achieved international environmental certification (ISO14001) and international quality standard certification (ISO9001).
- A tree is planted for every bed and bedroom suite sold.
Okooko was the Supreme winner of the Bay of Plenty Business Awards held in Tauranga in October 2003.
