Healthy Intimacy

At Okooko, we pride ourselves on defining the new bedroom experience. How could we talk about wonderful bedroom experiences, without talking about intimacy? (We define intimacy as 'close relationships between partners' to keep our web sensors happy).

Sleep is obviously a vital contributor to good health. So is intimacy. Okooko advocates both on the grounds of good, healthy and happy living.

The Intimacy Effect

It’s comforting to know that intimacy not only feels good, it is actually good for your health. Studies suggest that intimacy is better for your health than once thought.

The range of benefits and pleasure differs depending on the type of relationship and the extent of communication between intimate partners. Experts have noted that protected intimacy in a long-term, caring relationship produces the most health benefits. Global experts have cited intimacy can help fight diseases, boost the immune system and reduce stress and pain.

"People who are active get better sleep, burn calories, and tend to be more physically fit and eat healthier," says Secretary General of the World Association for Health, Dr. Beverly Whipple. "Another study showed that being intimately active increases longevity and prevents heart disease and stroke in men."

Dr Whipple was talking about a newly publicised study by the University of Bristol and the Queen’s University of Belfast, which found that men who have three or more very intimate experiences a week are 50% less likely to die from coronary heart disease.
